The International Day against Nuclear Tests intends to raises
awareness about the dangers of nuclear weapons and closer approaches for
eliminating the use of those weapons.
Every year the International Day against Nuclear Tests is observed
to pay respect to the victims of the past and to remind the world of the
persisting threat these tests create to the environment and international
stability.

DAY AGAINST NUCLEAR TESTS HISTORY
Since nuclear weapons testing began
in the mid-twentieth century, nearly 2,000 tests have taken place across the
world. Recognized in 2009, the International Day against Nuclear Tests has
raised the report of the shocking effects that nuclear testing has on human
life.
The day was observed on august 29th
because the day marks the closing
of one of the world’s largest nuclear test sites (in Kazakhstan) in 1991.
The day also promotes the need for a nuclear weapon-free
world.
