INTERNATIONAL YOUTH DAY (IYD)
The youth's are considered as the most valuable assets of a country. Today's youth is tomorrows future for any country. So for better future , we need strong, educated, healthy and capable young stars.
The United Nations’ (UN)
International Youth Day is celebrated every year to raise awareness about the
efforts of world’s youth in enhancing global society.
Currently there are around 1.8 billion young people between age 10-24 present around the world. Unfortunately a big part of this young peoples are not having access to basic education.
It is estimated around half of that 1.8 billion youth around the world between age 6-14 lack of basic reading and basic mathematical skills.
The day also aims to support ways
to engage them in becoming more actively involved in making positive
contributions to their communities.
International Youth Day mainly focuses on the rights of these
young people to have
1. Full access to education
2. Adequate healthcare
3. Employment opportunities
4. Financial services
5. Full involvement in public life.

WHEN IS INTERNATIONAL YOUTH DAY (IYD)?

INTERNATIONAL YOUTH DAY (IYD) HISTORY
The thought for International Youth Day was first proposed in
1991 by a group of young people who gathered at Austria, Vienna for the first
session of the UN’s World Youth Forum.
The forum suggested that an
International Youth Day be acknowledged particularly for fund raising and
promotional purposes, to support the United Nations Youth Fund in partnership
with youth organizations.
International Youth Day (IYD) was first renowned on 12th
August 2000, following the UN General Assembly passed a declaration accepting
the recommendation made by the World Conference of Ministers Responsible for Youth
in Lisbon in 1998.
WHAT DO PEOPLE DO ON INTERNATIONAL YOUTH DAY (IYD)
1. Participate in youth conferences on issues such as education and employment.
2. Take part in concerts promoting the world’s youth
