World Milk Day is recognized by the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of to raise awareness about the importance of milk as a global food and it has been observed every year since 2001.

It is celebrated to enhance the common public awareness about all aspects of the natural milk such as

·        Its natural origin
·        Milk’s nutritional value
·        Range of milk products
·        Its economic importance throughout the globe.

WORLD MILK DAY HISTORY

Since 2001 World Milk Day was being celebrated all across the world .and by year by year.  The number of participating countries in the celebration is increasing. Every year celebration focuses to broadcast the activities related to the milk and milk industries throughout the world. This celebration became nationalized by organizing celebration on national and international level. The celebration intends to increase the public awareness about the importance of milk and milk products for everyone all over the whole life.

World Milk Day was first recognized to be celebrated annually on world level on 1st of June by the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization. The celebration was preferred on 1st June because the national milk day was already being celebrated by many countries during this time.

WHAT TO DO ON WORLD MILK DAY

·        Add milk in the balanced diet on daily basis
·        Highlight the nutritional health benefits of the milk 
·        Organize free milk distribution camps
·        Distribute the free milk packets among children.
·        Arrange various other programs like debate, quiz , essay writing in  schools, colleges, universities to encourage students.
