and its role in reshaping our energy systems, decarbonise our economies and
boost growth and jobs.

Wind Day also gives members of the public the chance to introduce to the power of wind energy and its numerous
benefits.

GLOBAL WIND DAY HISTORY
Global
Wind Day is a coordinated action between EWEA (European Wind Energy
Association) and GWEC (Global Wind Energy Council). The day started in Europe in 2007 and went global by 2009.
Nowadays more than 75 countries celebrate Global Wind Day
with hundreds of events all around the world
By 2030, wind could serve a part of the European Union’s
electricity needs and will be the backbone of Europe’s energy system,
according to WindEurope.
As wind
energy is one of the cheapest forms of energy, it is likely that wind will be
providing 20% of our electricity by 2030.
